Greece held onto the top spot in its Nations League group following a 2-2 draw against the Netherlands in Thessaloniki on Thursday. The match showcased Greece’s strong start as they surged to a 2-0 lead in the first half. Fotis Ioannidis scored the opening goal in the 23rd minute, nodding in a header from Giorgos Masouras. Masouras then extended Greece’s advantage in first-half stoppage time, capitalizing on a Dutch defensive error to score from close range.

The Netherlands, however, mounted a comeback in the second half. Virgil van Dijk narrowed the gap with a header from a Joey Veerman corner in the 59th minute. Despite Greece goalkeeper Konstantis Tzolakis making a crucial late save, the Netherlands found the equalizer in the 89th minute when Tijjani Reijnders scored from close range.

This result keeps Greece at the top of their group with seven points, two points clear of the Netherlands. Greece is set to face Germany next, hosting them on Sunday.
