Greece Unveils AI Assistant to Support Doctors in National Health System

by admin477351

Greece has launched its first artificial intelligence tool for healthcare professionals, marking a major milestone in the country’s digital transformation of public health services. The Digital Doctor Assistant, now integrated into the National Electronic Health Record (EHR), is designed to help doctors access patient data, streamline administrative processes, and improve diagnostic efficiency.
Developed through cooperation between the Health and Digital Governance Ministries under the EDIKA agency, the system—called MyHealthDoc—enables doctors to retrieve medical histories, view personalized reports, and ask questions in natural language. It also supports voice interaction, offering answers such as recent prescriptions or patient summaries.
Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis said the innovation represents “a new era for the National Health System,” offering faster access to information and better decision-making support. He added that a Citizen Digital Assistant for Health will be launched next month, allowing individuals secure access to their personal medical records and services.
Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou highlighted that the AI system aims to “reduce bureaucracy and enhance the quality of care,” describing it as a crucial step in Greece’s broader digital health reform.
