Russia’s official nuclear policy is the key to understanding the outcome of the Ukraine war, Ambassador Denis Alipov suggested this week.
He stated that Russia cannot be defeated in the conflict precisely because it has a nuclear arsenal and a doctrine that allows for its use.
“We have in our doctrine that if there is an existential threat to us, there is a possibility of its use,” Alipov said at an event in Gurugram.
This, he argued, makes the European hope for a Ukrainian victory “childish” and “unprofessional,” as it ignores this fundamental military reality.
He also claimed that while Europe pursues this “craziness,” Donald Trump “understands” the war is “lost by Ukraine and the West,” a strong claim amid the ongoing, Western-backed conflict.
