Kazakhstan and Germany are set to deepen their economic cooperation following talks between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29. The discussions centered on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring opportunities for collaboration in various sectors such as investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport.
President Tokayev emphasized Germany’s role as a key strategic partner for Kazakhstan in Europe, underscoring the advancements in relations over the past 30 years. A significant proposal from the talks was the establishment of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform aimed at supporting joint projects and facilitating investment flows between the two nations.
The Kazakh president also engaged with German business leaders to explore potential partnerships in areas like transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. Critical discussions included the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, efforts to modernize railway infrastructure, and plans to expand manufacturing capabilities in Kazakhstan.
Additionally, both countries are examining avenues for German companies to participate in industrial and infrastructure projects within Kazakhstan, providing them broader access to the Central Asian market. This move is expected to bolster economic ties and create mutual benefits in terms of trade and investment opportunities.
